Hugo Salazar
Hugo Salazar is currently the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Baskonia Basketball and is responsible for players’ athletic performance. Before taking over Baskonia’s main team in 2020-21 season, Hugo was for 4 years physical performance coordinator in Baskonia youth. Prior to that, he served as a strength coach in female basketball club Araski that competed in First Spanish Division. In 2018 Hugo joined male basketball Basque Country national team under the role of a strength & conditioning coach, and this is his role ever since.
In formal education, Hugo earned a PhD in Sport Science from the Faculty of Education and Sport at the University of Basque Country (Vitoria-Gasteiz) what gave him an opportunity for lecturing in various Sport science programs in Spain. In addition, coach Salazar holds a Master’s Degree in Sport science research and in High performance in team sports.
Caterina Todeschini
Caterina Todeschini is currently strength and conditioning coach of Famila Basket Schio, where she came in 2016. The FBS is an Italian female team participating in Women Euroleague. She joined Italian Female National Youth Teams in 2008 and was a S&C coach of Italian Female Senior Team.
Caterina is a board member of APFIP (Associazione Preparatori Fisici Italiani Pallacanestro), and national teacher for Italian Basketball Federation for S&C coaches. She holds a master degree in Sport Science and a Degree in Psychological Sciences.
Kostas Chatzichristos
Kostas Chatzichristos is currently the Director of Performance at Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul. Before moving to Istanbul, he held the same position for eight years at the Russian powerhouse CSKA Moscow, being responsible for player athletic development and rehabilitation.
The two times European Champion with CSKA has also acted as a strength and conditioning specialist in elite basketball teams in Europe (Olympiacos BC, Panionios BC) and the US as the head strength and conditioning coach at the University of Georgia – Men’s Basketball.
In the summer of 2021, Kostas joined the Greek National Team – Men’s Basketball as Head of Performance under the coach Rick Pitino and continues in the same position until the present day.
As a co-founder and Director of the Euroleauge Strength & Conditioning Coaches’ Association (ESCCA), he has led the fledgling Association into organization of growing impact in the basketball strength and conditioning community. The ESCCA’s annual Summit has been established as one of the major educational events in Europe, attracting world-class speakers, attendees and companies from around the world.
A frequent speaker and guest lecturer at international and national educational events, Kostas has also authored numerous articles in fitness publications. He has produced educational products for coaches and has been doing consulting work with sports federations and select professional teams. He is also involved in the development of tech products and services focusing on performance optimization and injury “prediction”.
He is also a co-founder at Performance22Lab, a state-of-the-art rehabilitation and performance center – located in his hometown Athens, Greece – where he has been training athletes of all levels, ages, and different sports. He is mostly known for his ongoing work with professional basketball players, as he has worked with some of the best male and female basketball players of this generation helping them perform at their best or/and rehabilitate from injuries.
Kostas holds a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree in Sports Science from the University of Athens and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Regev Fanan
Regev “Reggie” Fanan is the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of the legendary Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club since 2015. Before he was named head strength coach, he was an assistant at Tel Aviv for three years and part of the team that won the 2014 Euroleague trophy. Apart from Maccabi, Reggie has worked as head strength and conditioning at the Israeli Women National Team and personally trains elite basketball and soccer players that seek to maximize their athletic potential.
Fanan is a graduate of Zinman school for coaches and the Wingate Institute with a specialization of strength and conditioning for basketball and soccer. He also attended the Tel Aviv University School for Coaches studying weight training. Reggie’s extensive experience in basketball includes him being a professional basketball player for eight years, again in his beloved Maccabi, when he has won three Euroleague titles.
Matteo Panichi
Matteo Panichi is a former professional basketball player with a 17-year career. He has played for major Italian pro teams like Scavolini Pesaro, Varese, Virtus Bologna and Rimini.
He earned his master’s degree in Motor Activity Sciences and Techniques, and he is a holder of the national certificates for basketball coaching and basketball strength & conditioning.
In the fall of 2022, Matteo is entering his second season as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Segafredo Virtus Bologna. Prior to this experience, he has served as performance specialist in Armani Exchange Olimpia Milano, Sutor Montegranaro and Vanoli Cremona.
Matteo has been a part of various Italian national teams (men, women, youth) for almost a decade, where he currently has a role of the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Besides coaching, Matteo devotes his time in lecturing and mentoring young S&C in the field. He also serves as vice-president of the APFIP – the Italian Strength and Conditioning Coaches’ Association.
Yannis Irid
Yannis Irid is the Head of the Sport Science Department and Strength & Conditioning Coach for the French Basketball Federation. He is currently completing his PhD, focusing on Load Monitoring, Performance Profiling, and Talent Identification in Elite Basketball.
Yannis has worked with the youth national teams, professional athletes, and leading sports performance organizations such as P3. His expertise combines biomechanics, data analysis, and applied sports science to enhance athlete performance.
Francesco Dimundo
Francesco is the president and founder of ITASCS. He is graduated in Sports Science from the University of Foggia (Italy), studied one year at the Universidad de Valencia (Spain), obtained his MSc in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) and has successfully completed the PhD in Talent Identification and Development in Professional Rugby Union at Birmingham City University (England).
He is a professional strength and conditioning coach with over ten years of experience in high performance sports training in disciplines such as Olympic taekwondo, boxing, soccer, rugby, track and field, volleyball and Olympic weightlifting. He began his career in sports science after completing 15 years as a taekwondo athlete competing at various regional, national and international levels.
Alongside his practical experience in the sector, Francesco has worked for both Italian and English universities, where he has taught as a lecturer, contributed to several publications and held senior positions as Head Performance Coach.
Marcus Lindner
Marcus Lindner is a highly experienced Performance Coach, with a career in elite basketball spanning over two decades.
From 2021 to 2025, he served as the Head of Physical Performance at HAKRO Merlins Crailsheim, where he played a pivotal role in enhancing the team’s physical conditioning and performance. Prior to that, he held the same positions at FC Bayern München Basketball from 2020 to 2021and from 2015 to 2020, he worked with BC Unics Kazan, focusing on optimizing player performance through tailored training programs. Currently, he holds the position of Head Strength & Conditioning coach at RASTA Vechta, bringing his extensive knowledge and innovative training methods to the team.
His journey also includes a tenure with the German Basketball National Team from 2009 to 2015, where he was instrumental in preparing athletes for international competitions. Additionally, he had the privilege of working with Brose Baskets Bamberg from 2010 to 2015 and Köln 99ers from 2007 to 2010, further solidifying his reputation as a dedicated and skilled performance coach.
